Adoption Stories

We receive wonderful stories of TCHS alumni on a regular basis, and we want to offer our sincere thanks to all who take the time to share them with us. We are invested in each and every pet we care for, and we want the best for them!  This is why we do what we do. Why you give, volunteer, adopt, and encourage your friends and neighbors to do the same.

Share Your TCHS Adoption Story:  email your story with photos to pets@tricountyhumanesociety.org or message us on our Facebook page for future publication. We love to hear how our alumni are doing!

Chuck, now Boone

This adoption story pup is a true Minnesotan – he loves to spend time at the lake! The puppy we knew as Chuck was transferred to Tri-County Humane Society in April. He was what we sometimes lovingly refer to as a "Leech Lake Legacy special." Chuck was adopted shortly after his arrival. He is now Boone, and his new family got his DNA analyzed. Can you guess?

For the record, Chuck is 31 percent German Shepherd, 20 percent supermutt (like any true Leech Lake Legacy dog), and the rest is a mix of Lab, American Pit Bull Terrier, and Chow Chow. What’s 100 percent is that Boone is a very good dog.

“He is the most loving, playful, and attentive boy. We love to go to the lake together as a family, where Boone loves to swim. He loves to do training, but he will definitely tell you when he’s over it. Boone also loves people and is very gentle with little kids (once he questions them a little bit lol). Overall, he has been the greatest addition to our little family, and we couldn’t love him more!”

Enjoy your summer, Boone! Hope your first winter is just as exciting and full of activity!
